Kate Murray

Kate Murray is the IT Specialist (Audio-Visual Specialist) in the Office of Strategic Initiatives at the Library of Congress. At the Library of Congress, Kate primarily works with the Federal Agencies Digitization Guidelines Initiative (FADGI) and on the Sustainability of Digital Formats website. Prior to joining the Library of Congress, Kate was a Digital Process Development Specialist in the Digitization Planning Branch at the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) specializing in standardizing and documenting moving image and audio formats. Before joining government service, she worked as the Audiovisual Archivist at University of Maryland College Park Libraries, the Audio and Visual Media Conservator at Emory University Libraries, and on digital projects at University of Cape Town Libraries in South Africa. Before making the switch to audio and visual materials, Kate was the Collections Conservator for NYU Libraries. She is the immediate-past co-chair of the Association of Moving Image Archivists (AMIA) Preservation Committee and is a member of SMPTE, ARSC and AES. Kate received her undergraduate degree in Medieval Literature from Columbia University and her MLS from the University of Cape Town.
