John Peter Zenger – Pic of the Week

Share this post:

This Pic of the Week is from the narrative of the trial of John Peter Zenger.  In this landmark case, Zenger’s attorney, Andrew Hamilton, obtained a jury verdict of not guilty based on his argument that truthful statements are a valid defense against a charge of libel.  The volume is held in the Law Library’s Rare Book Collection.
