Watch the Laureate Read “In the End, Everything Gives”

In a September “Bookmarked” blog post, I interviewed Emily Pegues, assistant curator of sculpture and decorative arts at the National Gallery of Art, about their symposium “Poetry is a country.” The symposium brought poets together to premiere original poetry inspired by works in the Gallery’s collection—including U.S. Poet Laureate Ada Limón, who wrote “In the End, Everything Gives” in response to Andy Goldsworthy’s sculpture “Roof.”

Today the National Gallery released a dynamic video of the laureate reading her poem, juxtaposed with drawings of the sculpture that transform into the sculpture itself. Enjoy!

BUT THE HORIZON HAVE NO CLUE.
WHERE AM I GOING AND GOING.
STILL I DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING.
MAY BE THIS ROAD IS NOT ENDLESS.
BUT I WILL BE ONE DAY LIFELESS.
