Since my last update on state poets laureate back in December, new laureates have taken up office in six states. Just yesterday, Carmen Tafolla was invested as Texas State Poet Laureate. Here are the five other changes since the new year began:
- Kimberly Blaeser started her term as Wisconsin Poet Laureate on January 6;
- Shelby Stephenson took up office as North Carolina’s poet laureate on February 2;
- Benjamin Myers became Oklahoma’s poet laureate on February 11;
- George Ella Lyon was named Kentucky Poet Laureate on April 24; and
- Eric McHenry became the new Poet Laureate of Kansas on May 1

Hello, Peter,
How are you? Hope you will be all right. I want to know how and where to participate to be a poet laureate. I writes my own poems and nursery rhymes and I am school teacher. I know, this might not be so easy to get the honor, but this is my dream to be in this list one day.
God bless,
Margaret
