This week’s Pic of the Week features an item anyone who has spent any time in a library would recognize – the ubiquitous book truck. I don’t know how many carts the Library of Congress has, but they are everywhere in the Library’s three Capitol Hill buildings. Many of them are in the book stacks and can often be seen in the tunnel on the way from one Library building to another. The one featured today was found in the Science & Business Reading Room and holds materials readers have requested that are being returned to the stacks.
I have pushed a number of full carts around working at the Library and can tell you that when they are filled, these carts are heavy and awkward to maneuver.
