Larry Doyle has worked on and around Wall Street for the last 30 years, having embarked on his Wall Street career in 1983 as a mortgage-backed securities trader for The First Boston Corporation. He served as Chair of the Mortgage Trading Committee for the Public Securities Association. After working at Bear Stearns, Union Bank of Switzerland, and Bank of America, Doyle culminated his close to 25 year career on the sell side of Wall Street at JP Morgan.
In late 2008, Doyle launched his blog Sense on Cents, where he writes on the markets, global economy, Wall Street, and Washington. He has received attention for his emphasis on issues related to investor education and protection. Doyle’s blogging led to his writing his book In Bed with Wall Street: the Conspiracy Crippling Our Global Economy.
In his book Doyle exposes the shortcomings of an ineffectual financial regulatory system that brought about the Wall Street meltdown in 2008 and writes that he believes the corrupt relationship between Wall Street and Washington served the interests of the financial industry and failed to protect investors, consumers, and the American taxpayer. Doyle details the reasons why the post-crisis financial reforms are not working and recommends several reforms and public policy proposals that would prevent another crisis.
Mr. Doyle will be discussing his book on June 5, 2014 from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm on Thursday, at the Library of Congress in the Mary Pickford Theater, located on the third floor of the Madison Building at 101 Independence Ave. S.E., Washington, D.C.
