Local Business History Using Dun’s Reference Book (Webinar)

Share this post:

Back in January 2022, Inside Adams published a post about a credit directory the Library had digitized and made available on our website – the Dun’s Reference Books for the years 1900-1924. This August we are finally having a brief webinar to illustrate how to use them!

one chart has ratings A (top) to M (bottom) with estimated pecuniary strength with sales ranges; second chart General credit with the different credit ratings of high, good, fair, limited
Key to Ratings. Dun and Bradstreet Reference Book: March, 1907; Vol. 156, part 1.

While this isn’t a deep dive into the set, we will be providing a bit of information on how to use it and what you will find in it.  Are you…..

  • researching your ancestor’s business?
  • interested in learning about businesses that were once in your community?
  • wondering about the company that made that thing you bought antiquing?
  • looking for information about that company you saw a stock certificate for?

If you answer yes to any of those questions, you might be just the person this webinar is for.  This collection may add just a little more to what you have already found out.

So, if this collection is of interest to you, please join us on August 2nd, from 1 – 1:30 pm.

Register for this August session, and you’ll receive the link to join the webinar. Individuals requiring accommodations for any of these events are requested to submit a request at least five business days in advance by contacting (202) 707-6362 or [email protected].

*You will receive a Zoom link prior to the webinar*
