If you are interested in learning more about the brain, the Library’s Music Division has additional online information on the impact music can have on brain health in the recorded lecture series, “Music and the Brain (2008-2010),” which was cosponsored with the Science Section, with support from the Dana Foundation. The Library also offers several short podcast episodes that might be of interest. There are a few highlights that are particularly interesting that relate to the May 22 program. The first is with Dr. Petr Janata, from UC Davis, who talks about the effect music can have on memory formation. The second is a conversation with Dr. Alicia Clair, discussing how some people with dementia can have a positive effect from listening to music from their youth. If you want to dive deeper, to include hearing samples of music, use this link to watch Dr. Clair’s full presentation on the topic.
