Research Orientation: European Reading Room

A tour of the European Reading Room, and an orientation to the Library’s European collections, is being offered on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., in the Jefferson Building, LJ-250, accessible via the European Reading Room, LJ-249. For online registration, click here.
The Library of Congress’ holdings of books and other materials from almost all European countries are larger than holdings anywhere else in the world except for within the countries themselves. The orientation will discuss the diverse European collections and how we collect, with a few interesting display items. It will cover both traditional and digital collections, as well as electronic subscriptions to European newspapers and periodicals. The orientation will also include a tour of the beautiful European Reading Room, and describe its resources, services, and specialized reference staff.
Orientations are offered to the public every other Tuesday from 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Those attending might wish to obtain a Library of Congress Reader Identification Card prior to the session. For information about reader’s cards, click here.
