AUTHOR: Giselle M. Avilés

Giselle M. Avilés is a reference librarian in the Hispanic Reading Room of the Latin American, Caribbean and European Division (LAC&E). In this role, she develops reference tools with the Library's vast materials, such as research guides and digital storytelling publications, that enhance access to the collections. She came to the Library in 2019 as a research fellow working with the Jay I. Kislak Collection and the William and Inger Ginsberg Collection of the Geography and Map Division. Following this experience, she worked at the John W. Kluge Center assisting with the Kluge Prize, the senior chair competitions, and the center’s events. Giselle holds a doctorate in Anthropology from the École des hautes études en sciences sociales in Paris, France.
