AUTHOR: Taru Spiegel
Taru Spiegel worked at the Library of Congress for many years and held positions such as special assistant, program officer, and copyright examiner, and worked special assignments in the John W. Kluge Center, Law Library of Congress and the American Folklife Center. She was born in Vaasa, Finland and has lived in Africa, Asia, and Europe. Her Ph.D. in political science is from the University of Maryland. She concluded her career in the Library’s European Division as a reference specialist for Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Flemish-speaking Belgium, Iceland, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden, as well as an author for the Library’s “4 Corners of the World” blog, until her untimely passing in 2021.
