It looks like we should update our Pic of the Week showing the iPad version along with the print version of the Congressional Record now that it is also available for the iPhone. It was with great enthusiasm that I blogged about the Congressional Record App which originally worked exclusively on the iPad. Thanks to a recent update, The Congressional Record app now works across all iOS devices (iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad). The iPad app has been downloaded over 12,000 times. I’m guessing with this update, that number will go up.
I received details on the enhancements to the app from Mike Nibeck who works in our Web Services section of the Library of Congress:
- Support for iPhone and iPod touch devices
- Support for Retina displays
- Added ability to copy text from the Congressional Record
- Enhanced search
- General enhancements
Mike also mentioned:
Users that have already installed the app will be notified that an update is available for download. There is only a single app that runs on both the iPhone/iPod and iPad platforms. If a user has more then one device, the app will be installed on all devices the user has registered with Apple.

What tools were used to make this type of app. I love the use of PDF .
When will there be an app for Androids?
This is pretty cool, and we can easily read buttons an interface element and very easy to navigate it.
