The following is a guest post by Donna Sokol, Special Assistant to the Law Librarian of Congress.
This was an eventful week for the Law Library!
The Library of Congress’ largest single event of the year, the National Book Festival, took place this past Saturday and Sunday. In the photo below, our Stacks Services manager, Sabrina Hsu (second from right) answers questions about the Law Library’s services and collections while Hanibal Goitom (right) gives a festival attendee a goody bag.
The Assistant Law Librarian for Collections, Outreach and Services, Robert Newlen, pitches in to help fill goody bags the day before the National Book Festival. The goody bags were provided by the Friends of the Law Library of Congress. Here, he uses one of the now-legendary gavel pencils to call the bag-filling session to order.
The prolific legal writer, Professor Allan Brewer-Carias, donated 141 of his 178 titles to the Law Library’s collection (we already had 37 titles in the collection). The Law Library now has the most complete collection of Brewer’s works anywhere in the world. Above, Law Librarian, David Mao, helps Professor Brewer unpack the collection.
