Once again, the Law Library will be participating at the National Book Festival. This will be our third year at the Library of Congress Pavilion. Our booth will be staffed by some faces familiar from last year as well as some staff new to the Festival. Law Library staff are also giving several presentations during the two days of the Festival.
Debbie Keysor, who will driving authors around in a golf cart later in the day, and Betty Lupinacci will be manning our table Saturday morning. The afternoon shift will be headed up by Jeanine Cali, who works in our Office of Legislative and External Relations and Public Services Division, along with Peter Roudik, who is the Director of the Global Legal Research Directorate. This is Peter’s first year working at the Book Festival and he is doing double duty. Before he joins us at our table he will be giving a presentation with Hanibal Goitom on “Foreign, Comparative and International Law Research at the Library of Congress.” Hanibal will be returning to the Book Festival Sunday afternoon along with myself while Elizabeth Moore, who is in charge of our Global Legal Resource Room and Emily Carr will be manning our booth on Sunday morning. Robert Brammer and Matthew Braun, both from Public Services, will also be helping out on Sunday. Our booth staff are eager to talk about the Law Library’s online resources and collections – and in particular to highlight Congress.gov. Andrew Weber will be giving a talk on Sunday on Congress.gov and showing people how to access it on their mobile devices.
Also on Sunday, two of our senior managers are giving presentations. At 11:40, Robert Newlen, Assistant Law Librarian for Legislative and External Relations, will be interviewing William C. Burton about Mr. Burton’s work in promoting legal achievements in writing: “The Right Word: Conversation with the Author of Burton’s Legal Thesaurus.” Our penultimate presentation will directly follow when David Mao, the Law Librarian, gives a presentation on “Law Library of Congress: A Living Collection of the World’s Legal Heritage.”
