Once again, the National Archives and the Law Library of Congress are hosting a Wikipedia edit-a-thon.  The focus will be on congressional committees and hearings.  It will be held at the Library of Congress on Friday, April 7 from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm.

There are a limited number of spots available.  Register now and learn more from the event page on Wikipedia.

We are very excited that The Librarian of Congress, Dr. Carla Hayden, will provide the opening remarks.  After Dr. Hayden’s opening, there will be several interesting presentations in the morning.  Katherine A. Scott, the associate historian from the Senate Historical Office, will provide a special presentation.

A representative from the Center for Legislative Archives at the National Archives will share some of their resources.

Robert will provide an introduction to congressional committee and hearing resources available from the Library of Congress.

After a short break, there will be a tour of the Law Library stacks and a related rare book presentation by Jim.

wikipedia-editathonFor those of you thinking, this sounds great, but I am not sure how to edit Wikipedia, Sara Snyder, chief in the Media and Technology Office of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, will provide an introduction.  If you do not already have a Wikipedia account, go ahead and create one.

After lunch, participants will dive in and edit Wikipedia throughout the afternoon.  Our goal is for people to enhance the information available on Wikipedia that pertains to congressional committees and hearings with primary sources.
