The Law Library of Congress and the Supreme Court Fellows Program will present A Conversation with The Honorable Sonia Sotomayor on Thursday, February 14, at 3:30 p.m. in the Coolidge Auditorium of the Library of Congress.
The Honorable Robert A. Katzmann, Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and Chair of the Supreme Court Fellows Commission, and Eloise Pasachoff, Professor of Law at the Georgetown University Law Center and Member of the Academic Advisory Board of the Supreme Court Fellows Program, will moderate the conversation. Jeffrey P. Minear, Executive Director of the Supreme Court Fellows Program and Counselor to the Chief Justice of the United States, and Jane Sánchez, Law Librarian of Congress, will introduce the program. The conversation will be held by the Supreme Court Fellows Program Annual Events and is co-sponsored by the Law Library of Congress.
A native of the Bronx, N.Y., Justice Sotomayor was nominated to the Supreme Court by President Barack Obama and assumed the role on August 8, 2009. Previously, she served as a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and President George H.W. Bush nominated her to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. Justice Sotomayor graduated from Princeton University and earned a J.D. from Yale Law School.
