The American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) will hold their annual meeting and conference this year in Washington, D.C. The Law Library of Congress will participate in throughout the event as speakers in the educational program, in the exhibit hall as an exhibitor, and of course, as attendees.

On Monday, July 15, there will be three presentations from Law Library of Congress staff.

At 11:00 a.m., Jenny Gesley, Tariq Ahmad, Laney Zhang, and Nicolas Boring will be presenting “The Age of AI: Emerging Regulatory Landscape around the World.” The presentation will summarize the current legal and regulatory approach to artificial intelligence in various countries around the world based on the Law Library’s comparative report on AI, which will be published soon.

At 3:00 p.m., Robert Brammer, Natalie Buda Smith, Fred Simonton, and Andrew Weber will present “No Regrets: Putting the User into Your Practice with Design Thinking.” This presentation will explain how to apply the principles of design thinking in your workplace by using the Library of Congress federal legislative information system, Congress.gov, as an example.

Finally, at 4:30 p.m., Jane Sánchez will be presenting at AALL for the first time since her appointment as Law Librarian of Congress. In her presentation “Shifting the Law Library Approach from Operational to Service-Oriented,” she will talk about how law libraries are transforming from stacks and shelves full of books into vibrant information hubs offering end users 24/7 access to timely, accurate, and compelling information.

If you’ll be at the AALL conference this year, please see us at the presentations and come meet us at the exhibit hall. Throughout the weekend, attendees can learn more about our services and interact with our law librarians. You can also grab some of our new giveaways!
