Time: 3:00-4:00 pm (Eastern)
Location: Zoom
Register for the Geospatial Resources virtual orientation session here!
This virtual orientation aims to provide an overview of the geospatial resources of the Geography & Map Division, including an introduction to geographic information systems (GIS), spatial data formats, and the geospatial activities of the Division. This session will be followed by a Q&A session with GIS specialists.

Additionally, a new Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Geospatial Materials Research Guide has just been published. This research guide serves as a resource for many of the Division’s geospatial activities, including information on available digital geospatial collection items, such as Geospatial Data and Georeferenced Maps.
You can also use the guide for more information on our special collection material which documents the creation and evolution of GIS and remote sensing included in the History of Computer Cartography and Geographic Information Sciences Archive. The archive documents both the History of Geographic Information Systems and the History of Remote Sensing.

Finally, the Library of Congress Geospatial Applications Collection has launched online! This new digital collection features both Story Maps and web maps produced at the Library of Congress, which utilize geospatial technology to create curated entry points into our digital collections. This online collection will allow you to explore the incredible stories of the Library’s collections through immersive narratives, multimedia, and interactive maps.
