The following is the third in a series of guest posts by retired Senior Music Cataloger Sharon McKinley.
Mark Baker (Junior Fellow Summer Intern, 2007) has been very busy in school, both as an Adjunct Professor and a grad student at the University of Maryland University College. He completed his MBA degree in 2010 and his Master of International Management in 2012. He has businesses in health and wellness, performing arts, and real estate, and is now establishing business links throughout Africa.
Mark performs a vocal repertoire enriched by his experience at the Library of Congress. He has performed art songs by Harry T. Burleigh and is planning a recording of American art songs. One high point for Mark was being selected to sing the national anthem for the UMUC commencement ceremony in 2011.
Erin Terwilliger, a 2010 Junior Fellows summer intern for the Music Division, is an Information Specialist and Instructor at the Glenwood Branch for the Howard County Library System in Maryland. She also enjoys teaching violin and viola lessons in the Baltimore area. In addition to her music and library work, Erin is currently pursuing her Masters Degree in Library Science from the University of Maryland, College Park. While at the Library of Congress, she worked on the It’s Showtime database and helped to create an inventory of items acquired in the mid-20th century from various sources.
Susan Lyon was a Junior Fellow in 2006. She cataloged current copyright deposits of popular sheet music and Spanish language sound recordings. Susan is now the Learning Engagement Manager of the Richland County Public Library, Columbia, SC, where she is involved in many facets of learning and instruction for both patrons and staff. Susan is interested in connecting learners of all ages with the library and its latest technologies. Most recently, she led Richland County Public Library’s unique outreach effort – “eReady Learning Takeovers” – in which library staff and volunteers promoted and demonstrated the library’s eBook offerings at popular local restaurants.
