Melissa Wertheimer joined the Library of Congress as a Music Reference Specialist in 2018. She strives to share primary sources with all music lovers and to contextualize musical sources with those of the arts and humanities. Melissa is also a flutist and new music specialist, and formerly held adjunct teaching positions at Johns Hopkins University and Howard Community College in Maryland. Melissa serves as Archivist of the Music Library Association, and has given archives presentations at MLA, the Mid-Atlantic Regional Archives Conference, the Hammond-Harwood House of Annapolis, the Hillwood Museum, and the Walters Art Museum. She has also been an education panelist at the New Music Gathering. Melissa holds a M.L.I.S. in Archives and Digital Curation from the University of Maryland, a M.M. in Piccolo from the Peabody Institute, and a B.M. in Flute from Ithaca College. Outside the Library, Melissa admires everything in Art Deco style.
