AUTHOR: Melissa Wertheimer

Melissa Wertheimer joined the Library of Congress as a Music Reference Specialist in 2018. Her responsibilities include special collections librarianship, web archives curation, reference, outreach, instruction, and acquisitions. A flutist and new music specialist, Melissa strives to share primary sources with all music lovers and to highlight connections between musical sources, arts, and humanities. Melissa serves as 2021-2022 Chair of the Society of American Archivists Web Archiving Section, a mentor for new professionals in the Mid-Atlantic Regional Archives Conference, a member of the Music Library Association's Archives and Special Collections Committee, and 2017-2021 Archivist of the Music Library Association. Melissa holds a M.L.I.S. in Archives and Digital Curation from the University of Maryland, a M.M. in Piccolo from the Peabody Institute, and a B.M. in Flute from Ithaca College. Outside the Library, Melissa admires everything in Art Deco style.
