Free Pre-National Book Festival Webinar for Educators on Aug. 25

On Aug. 25, at 4 p.m. ET, the Library’s education specialists will host a one-hour webinar to help teachers prepare for the 2021 Library of Congress National Book Festival.

The National Book Festival itself will take place September 17-26, with the theme “Open a Book, Open the World.” During the webinar, specialists will share details about the Festival including information related to programming, participating authors and features geared toward young learners. They will also suggest strategies for connecting materials from the Festival with your students in the classroom, whether virtually or in person.

This year’s National Book Festival will offer communities of readers new opportunities to engage locally and across the country. Programs will include livestreamed talks and Q&As with a diverse slate of authors, videos on demand, plus interactive sessions with Library of Congress subject specialists. It will also be complemented by a PBS special, a series of NPR podcasts with Festival authors and more. And, to expand the reach of the Festival, there will also be opportunities for audiences at a distance to participate in festival-related events closer to home.
