AUTHOR: Sasha Dowdy
Sasha Dowdy was born in Russia and raised in Japan. She became a librarian when she found her calling after working as a translator, interpreter, and language teacher for seven years. She earned her master’s in library science from the University of Maryland with a concentration in youth services. She has been working at the Library of Congress Young Readers Center since 2016 after concluding her internship in the same space. She is passionate about helping kids and teens find something in the Library of Congress that connects to their lives and sparks their curiosity. Her current role on the Library’s Informal Learning Team is to manage the browsing collection, run the internship and volunteer programs, and contribute to the development of programming for children, families and teens.
