New BARD Additions: May 2025

Share this post:

Greetings from the NLS Music Section! As we prepare for the start of summer, we are proud to present our latest additions to BARD (Braille Audio Reading Download).

We’ve added two new items to our audio collection that showcase the work of the Music Section and our patrons. You can listen to an interview with one of our talented patrons, the composer and pianist Hwaen Ch’uqi, and you can also learn more about the history and format of our Popular Music Lead Sheets from our braille music specialist, Timothy Jones.

Thanks to the Marrakesh Treaty, we’ve been able to acquire a collection of Korean folk songs for guitar and Mendelssohn’s Sonata no. 2 for cello and piano from the National Library for the Disabled in South Korea. Other recent braille additions also include excerpts from the opera “The Tender Land,” music from the ballet “Billy the Kid,” and the Piano Variations by Aaron Copland. Finally, Broadway fans will be delighted to know that we have acquired selections from the hit musical, “The Band’s Visit.”

You can also borrow materials below by mail, not only through BARD. Simply contact the Music Section to borrow talking books on digital cartridge or embossed copies of braille music. Call us at 1-800-424-8567, ext. 2, or e-mail us at [email protected].
