AUTHOR: John Hanson
John Hanson was head of the Music Section at NLS from June 2003 through August 2016. He came to the Library of Congress after a career in academia, having taught at Texas Christian University, Wellesley College, and the University of Kansas. His music interests and activities revolved around choral music, piano, trumpet and French horn. In Washington, DC, he sang in the Cathedral Choral Society and the Chamber Singers at the National Institutes of Health. He has an MLS from the University of Maryland and earned his A.B. from the University of California at Berkeley (Scandinavian Languages and Literature), and his Ph.D. from Harvard University (Religionis Studia).
