This coming weekend at the Packard Campus Theater (19053 Mt. Pony Road / Culpeper, VA)

The future is now!  Or then, as the case may be.  This month, at the Packard Theater, we are highlighting futuristic films whose time has passed.

“Soylent Green” (1973) (Friday, September 16, 2022; 7:30 pm)

This is the film that inspired this month’s theme.  Charleston Heston stars and the film predicts a future that would be our current present.  Set in the year 2022.

(MGM; 1973; color, 153 minutes)

“Westworld” (1973) (Saturday, September 17, 2022; 2 pm)

Before it was a TV series, it was a film.  And an alarming look at the future (1983!) where even our amusements were unforgettable and, sometimes, downright disturbing.  Boy, have we got a film for you!

(MGM; 1973; color; 88 minutes)

“Edge of Tomorrow” (2014) (Saturday, September 17, 2022; 7:30 pm)

War again is predicted in our future, but this time it is aliens and not humans themselves that are trying to destroy the Earth.  Set in the year 2015.

(Warner Bros.; 2014; color, 113 minutes.)
