TODAY IS THE DAY!  As it does every year, the Library of Congress just named its 25 latest additions to its National Recording Registry!

As always, the range of works selected by the Librarian of Congress, with the assistance of the National Recording Preservation Board and the public’s nominations, show great diversity.  The earliest recording is from 1919 while the most recent is from 1998.  While the range of genres run the gamut from psychedelic rock to modern country to comedy (Hello, Lily!) to Latin to new wave rock to jazz and rap and grunge to a song about “the most famous reindeer of them all.”  Among the artists in the mix this year:  ABBA, Notorious BIG, Patti Page, Perry Como, Blondie, The Cars, Bobby McFerrin and the band formerly known as The Dixie Chicks.
