AUTHOR: Mike Mashon
Mike Mashon retired as Head of the Moving Image Section on June 30, 2023 after 25 years with the Library. A native of Baton Rouge, La., he received his B.S. in Microbiology from Louisiana State University, an M.A. in Radio-Television-Film from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Ph.D. in Radio-Television-Film from the University of Maryland. His favorite movies are from the early 1930s, his favorite television program is The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and his musical tastes more or less froze in the 1980s, yet he spends a lot of time planning for preservation of and provision of access to digital content. He doesn't watch nearly as much TV as he would like, but does enjoy obsessing over LSU football.
