Brian Foo joined the Library in 2022 as a Senior Innovation Specialist with the Connecting Communities Digital Initiative (CCDI) where he supports and amplifies the work of creators, scholars, and practitioners who want to use Library digital materials to tell stories that center communities of color. Prior to joining the Library, Brian has worked with libraries and museums with a focus on making cultural and scientific collections accessible and remixable for the general public. As a data artist at the American Museum of Natural History, he designed the Museum’s first permanent exhibit on climate change. At the New York Public Library, he designed the Library’s digital collections website and took part in the effort to release hundreds of thousands of items into the public domain. As a 2020 Innovator-in-Residence at the Library of Congress, he created Citizen DJ, a project that invited the public to make hip hop music using free-to-use audio and video material from the Library's collections.
