On August 25, at 4pm ET, we will host a one-hour webinar to help teachers prepare for the 2021 Library of Congress National Book Festival (NBF).
The NBF itself will take place September 17-26, with the theme “Open a Book, Open the World.” During the webinar, we will share details about the virtual festival including information related to programming, participating authors, and features geared toward young learners. We will also suggest strategies for connecting materials from the festival with your students in the classroom, whether virtually or in person.
This year’s NBF will offer communities of readers new opportunities to engage locally and across the country. Programs will include livestreamed talks and Q&As with a diverse slate of authors, videos on demand, plus interactive sessions with Library of Congress subject specialists. It will also be complemented by a PBS special, a series of NPR podcasts with authors featured in the NBF, and more. And, to expand the reach of the festival, there will also be opportunities for audiences at a distance to participate in NBF-related events closer to home. (Check out this sizzle reel related to this year’s Festival for a sneak peek.)
We hope you can attend this webinar to learn how you and your students can participate in the NBF wherever you may be! Participants who stay for the entire webinar will receive an automated email certifying their attendance.
