AUTHOR: Heather Bowden
Heather Bowden served as Digital Preservation Outreach & Education (DPOE) Program Specialist at the Library of Congress from January 2012 to April 2012. She managed all aspects of the DPOE Program, including Train-the-Trainer Workshops, the DPOE website, and the DPOE listserv. Before joining the Library of Congress Office of Strategic Initiatives team, she was the project manager for the Closing the Digital Curation Gap and DigCCurr II projects at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While working for these projects, she created the Digital Curation Exchange website and helped design and launch the DigCCurr Professional Institute. She has worked on digitization and EAD encoding projects and in previous lives has worked as a graphic and web designer. She has a BFA from New Mexico State University, an MLIS from the University of Denver, and she is working on her PhD in Information & Library Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her dissertation work focuses on developing viable metrics for automating file format endangerment warnings.
