Mary Dell Jenkins has been a Music Reader Services Librarian for the NLS Music Section since 2005. Previously she worked in the Phoenix Public Library at the Special Needs section. She earned a Bachelor of Music from Hardin-Simmons University and a Master of Music in French horn from Texas Tech University. Following a period of teaching and performing in the Dallas area, she ‘headed south’ to Mexico where she performed at the Fine Arts Palace (Palacio de Bellas Artes) in Mexico City with the Opera/Ballet companies for some years. Upon her return to the U.S., she completed two more Masters Degrees in Educational Psychology from Northern Arizona University and Information Resources and Library Sciences from the University of Arizona. With her music background and love of libraries, she feels fortunate to have the best of both worlds in her current position.
